Scientists: Based on gold created the darkest material

Physicists said that while working on a story inspired by the structure of beetle elytra Cyphochilus, which is one of the white creatures on the planet. The new material was made from gold, or rather of the gold nanoparticles, each of which is an object of complex shape, but rather the scope of which is attached a rod. The nano-sized spheres literally absorb photons in itself, working as a kind of waveguide if arranged randomly.
According to the authors, these technologies have, in principle, there is no limit to the absorbed light. Based on the gold nanospheres can develop a dye capable to absorb and 100 percent of the light from violet to infrared.
It should be noted that in the experiment using the physics of the material layer, whose thickness does not exceed 10.2 micrometer - absorption was 98.43%. In the event of the same 60-degree angle from the vertical allowed to achieve absorption of 99.7%.
